1) Magic Iso - get it for free at http://www.magiciso.com/download.htm

Step to Step Guide:

1) Download Magic Iso and install it.

2) Load up Magic Iso.

3) At this point, you have the option of buying the full version of Magic Iso if you want to use it indefinitely for a later usage, or click "Try It!" for a trial run. For this tutorial, we're going to go ahead with the trail, so click that option.

4) Click the "Tools" tab on top and go to the third option that says "Virtual CD/DVD Drive"

5) In the window that pops up next to it, hover your mouse cursor over the first option until another window appears and choose "Change Driver Letter"

6) Click on "Change Drive Letter" and choose which drive you want Magic Iso to emulate. For this tutorial, let's pick (M:)

7) Go back to "Virtual CD/DVD Drive" > "M: No Media" > and now click "Mount"

8) In the explorer window, browse for the .MDF file you want to emulate and select it. Press "Open".

9) In the Magic Iso browser, your file should now be emulated, with a full list of files of the .MDF image.

10) Right click the main directory of the emulated drive on the lefthand list of the browser.

11) Choose "Extract"

12) A explorer window should now have sprung up, asking you where you want to extract the files to. Extract the file to wherever you want.

Congratulations, you have just opened a .MDF file and extracted all the data within! Remember these tips for the next time you run across one of these types!

1. Need for Speed Shift – Real Mod 1.0

The modding community keeps on improving EA & Slightly Mad Studios’ recently released Need for Speed Shift title in a breathtaking pace. Following the first physics and damage mods as well as the fictional track object remover, Dario Morelli has pushed the envelope further by releasing his Real Mod.

The 900kb small mod combines many improvements made by other mods into one package, including damage improvements, alternative cameras and overhauled physics that get rid of the constant sliding of cars, making them feel more like in the GTR series of simulations.

Extensive work has been gone into the AI too as Diego has not just adjusted the AI aggressiveness but also changed many of the computer cars’ characteristics. Other changes include smoothed track surfaces and slight menu changes. If youґre unsure about which of the many Shift mods to get, this one shouldn’t be missed.

The mod is available both in packed BFF files as well as loose files for those preferring the unpacking method.

2. Need for Speed Shift – Damage Mod Released

Following first available mod that adjust Need for Speed Shift’s AI agression and grip levels, YodaStar has released the first mod that tweaks Shift’s damage system.

The mod will enable gearbox, engine and tire damage for enhanched realism. Furthermore, sharp objects will now play a part on car impacts and tires can fall off.

The release includes both loose files and a repacked archive, make sure to check out the included readme before installing.

3. Need for Speed Shift – Track Objects Removal Mod

Tobias Kluge has released a new mod for Need for Speed Shift, getting rid of the fictional trackside objects that spoiled Shift’s tracks for many sim racers.

The mod removes fictional billboards, balloons, circus tents, graffitis and everything else that gave the tracks a rather arcadish look, check out the screens below to get an idea how the cleaned circuits will look.

Important: The mod requires the unpacking of the game’s files which will take around 30 minutes to complete. The mod comes with a batch-file that will take care of the unpacking, more info on this issue can be found at the download location.
